Villa Park 2018s got their first taste of playing five-a-side football at the weekend when they participated in the Shotts YMCA Winter Festival.

Matthew Purser and his coaching team led four sides into the annual event at Ravenscraig, which proved to be another rousing success.

After two years of Fun 4s, the players were more than ready for bigger pitches, bigger goals and the opportunity to tests themselves with - and against - keepers.

And judging by the amount of clean sheets that the boys kept across 24 games, it would seem as though the 2018s have plenty of options when it comes to goalies for the new season.
